How it works

There’s a saying: Write a million words and you can call yourself a writer.

Want to call yourself a writer in five years? Just write 550 words a day. In a month, you’ll produce 16,500 words. In a year, 200,750 words.

A novel is about 70,000 words.

If you’re familiar with NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), they require you to write 50,000 words in one month. That’s an average output of 1,667 words a day.

For 550 Words Daily, you just have to write 550 words a day. Every day. Do this, and you’ll ‘win’ NaNoWriMo, but over a three-month period.

We believe this is a manageable way to start — a sustainable practice that will turn into  a habit. And we’ve built a system to keep you on track.
